It's possible to change, it's just that it's probably less likely between 45-54 than, say 18-40. And I don't think it atones. Does it make a person unemployable in the present though? That's a hard thing to decide. Should a guy who got a DIU get his licence back after doing his time? After attending AA? What if he hurt or killed someone?

In this case, Peters doesn't likely get a job in NA at any significant level. Off to the KHL, where they don't care about this kind of stuff.
