Sidebar - due to how much I listen to, I might be entirely numb to the word. I can find myself dropping lines that contain ‘n bombs’ pretty often, and I don’t think that’s racist in the slightest.
As for Peters, I suspect he called it ‘###### music’. Not appropriate. Unfortunately, it was and still is a very common thing to hear. Seriously, if the notion of that being the case shocks you, you just didn’t spend enough time in certain places to hear that derogatory term.

Did you grow up in a white town with little minorities/black people? Anyone calling it N**** music in the greater toronto area would catch an ass whooping. That is clearly racist and you obviously grew up in an area that accepted it. I have never in my life of listening to rap music heard a black person call rap N**** music. There is a world of difference in raping/singing along to a song you enjoy and saying that word versus explicitly categorizing something N.. music.
