There is no way Treliving wanted to fire Peters this year. Not after making a second coaching change in 2 years, not after a 50 win 2nd overall regular season, not giving this core their 4th coach in 6 years. Having said that there are very few levers a GM can pull when a season is going this unexpectedly bad. He can make a trade but typically that is hard to do and it is especially so this year with so many teams up against the cap.
These allegations potentially give Treliving a freebie do over on Peters and make that coaching change 1/3 into the second season after a very successful year one.
