We still have the universal health care system and a premium health care system that work independently. Id prefer this over what the US has every day.

Needed an MRI for my knee after a sports injury. I could wait months with the public health care system or 10 days with private. The private was covered under my health care spending account. Still really like what we have here compared to other countries.

I'm honestly astonished that this is still a question. Unless of course it's the norm in Alberta but not elsewhere.
MRI is, of course, different than an emergency situation with possible heart or neurological implications.
