Monahan scoring is the least of your concerns with him?
I will concede he is playing a "more complete game" than we've seen in the past. However, he is paid handsomely to be the primary goal scorer on this team, and as such, his lack of production is a significant reason the Flames have spent nearly the entire season trailing.
If he can't provide even a 20 goal pace in his role on the top PP and first line, I struggle to see how this team can get back to being a top team let alone even making the playoffs. It's not like you're actually getting game changing defensive and hard to play against play out of him. We're talking more like average at best now.
With a trade off being a 50% drop in his goal output this year, I'd say the juice isn't at all worth the squeeze.
