Poppies represent tradition and an old institution, namely military service which this person I guess disapproves of. But she seems wildly confused about the direct meaning, respecting the fallen ones. But at least she's progressive, I guess.
Extremists are on both sides but what's remarkable, if indeed true, that half the writers (however many) chose to support her on this.
