You are obviously not looking at the whole story that's what I meant about lack of comprehension which you undoubtably fall under. I said my piece, gave my opinion on the issue, now I'm done. If I want to spar with someone I will do so but not with an unarmed person.
I'm not an ageist, far from it. I have 87 year old grandparents that I revere and respect, and they constantly bring new perspectives to my attention that bring value to my life. But just because you are old doesn't make you wise. Sometimes age brings senility and a decline in rational thought.

Quite frankly, Don has been given chance, after chance, after chance, after chance. I think the nation has been quite patient with him over the years. However, at some point you just have to say "You are too detrimental to our brand to keep on board". When it becomes impossible to defend his comments, and he refuses to even acknowledge that he crossed a line, that's someone that doesn't have a place in media.

Anyone that works in media needs to be cognizant of the impact they can have on a population. If you are a major public figure, you have influence, both for good and bad. That means you have a responsibility to your position of power as well. If someone points out to you that statements you make from your position of power can cause harm to the social structure, or can cause discord amongst the populace, AND you refuse to acknowledge that harm or impact? Sorry, I've got no time for you.

If you have power you must learn to use it responsibly. That means occasionally saying you're sorry for something that is divisive and insensitive. Nobody is above an apology once in a while.

Did he deserve to be fired for what he said? Probably not if that was the only incident. Problem is, it wasn't. But I'll allow that he could have been kept on if only he had the grace and humility to issue an apology and clarify his remarks. He didn't, he wouldn't, he never will. He needed to go. End of story.

Was I well-armed enough for you?
