If what Don said was supported by facts, I wouldn’t entirely have a problem with it. But without any factual merit, it’s just subjective bigotry.
From where I stand, more people, from all walks of life, should consider more the importance of Nov 11th, and we could all have used a little reminder from Don. But that wasn’t the point he wanted to make.

It would seem fairly obvious that people who have grown up in countries that don't honour remembrance day are less likely to understand Remembrance Day, that doesn't make them bad people or even unpatriotic and if Cherry wanted to address the issue he could have gone on the Punjabi edition of HNIC and tried to teach the importance of the day rather than berate people for not understanding something they didn't grow up with.
