I get where it seems his comments might be thinly veiled racism, but I see 2 problems.

- he has a long history of discrimination against groups of whites as well; French, Swedes, Russians. His discrimination against groups of whites has a far longer and more defined history than his discrimination against groups of another skin colour. So it seems it isn’t an issue of whites being better than visible minorities, is is more Canadians being better than just about anyone else.

-his comments in this case are about new immigrants, which, admittedly, are mostly visible minorities. Except that is there an indication that he has an issue with all people of colour? It looks like his issue is with people who aren’t Canadian enough (in his mind), regardless of skin colour.

There is substantial evidence that he is an judgemental idiot, not sure if we can conclude that he is a racist though.
