Yeah you have to figure that BCE keeping 1060 around (CFCN 1060 in the 70s and 80s and probably long before that, then the iconic AM 106) is in part due to nostalgia but also to keep it as a placeholder for something down the road.... AM radio doesn't have a lot of formats, so news or more likely a TSN is the end goal. And a news station would've happened by now.
But they need the Flames to get it. Having a bumbling Jermaine Franklin as your reporter for over a decade goes to show the time and effort they're currently invested in Calgary, knowing the Sportsnet hold.
