You have to figure out a way of making him lose money in the long run. Tell him you'll send him the cheques but send them to him in a really large package of garbage or junk but give it a super high customs value.
Tell him that you need his help to deliver it to a friend in England and that the friend will compensate him for the customs fees and shipping he'll need to pay to accept it and that his cheques are inside as well.
To make it even better, tell him to deliver it to a police station with a confidential letter telling the police that this is a scammer.
