In all my hockey years, the same thing happened with every pair of skates I owned except one.
For the first few times wearing them every year my feet would hurt. Then they would feel fine for the rest of the season.
The only time that didn't happen was when I was around 12 and they had those moulded (aka pretty much solid plastic skates). They sucked hard.
