Being optimistic or at least not calling quits on the season seams to be heading towards unpopular opinion, so I'll throw in my two cents.
I have not given up on this team, at least not yet. I may be clinging to hope that is unwarranted, but I have it. Here is my simple minded rationale.
18/19 Flames after 14 games:
8-5-1 for 17 points
Goals For - 44
Goals Against - 47
Differential - (-3)
19/20 Flames after 14 games:
6-6-2 for 14 points
Goals For - 37
Goals Against - 41
Differential - (-4)
That's it. I'm not a guy who digs for a bunch of advanced stats or anything, my hope comes from the simple stuff. Obviously what's killing us so far this year is scoring, give us those 7 more goals for and we win some of these games. I believe the scoring will come. I have no basis for that other than good old blind hope and optimism. But it's gotten me thru a lot of October's as a Flames fan and it's getting me thru this one. Let's see how November goes.
