I don’t disagree that in retrospect the trade isn’t great but one should not be connecting Hamonic to Dobson in this way

Without hamonic that pick is probably in the top 10 and the 2nd is probably top 40, both for Calgary.
I don't normally point and say so and so could've been drafted but in this instance the flames moved what was otherwise two exceptionally high value picks for a nice cap hit because they were already in cap jail.
Do the flames make a deal for a high value player like mark stone if they have 2 other potentially as valuable prospects as valimaki...?
Opportunity cost.
It will make it hard for the flames/treliving to walk away from Hamonic for that very reason.
