It was said earlier in the thread: Conservative policies appeal to 1/3 of Canadians. 2/3 of Canadians want something else. If conservatives want to win, they need to change their policies.

I get your point, but your math is extremely misleading. What we really have is about 1/3 on the right, 1/3 in the centre, and 1/3 on the left.
The problem for the conservatives is that they are currently being run by social conservatives who are very far right which alienates a lot of people who are centre-right.
But saying 2/3 of Canadians want something else is very misleading. Two thirds of Canadians don't want the Liberals either.
