From the perspective of actual female empowerment, I wish that this could happen on a film like the Batman, and not be marketed at all.

Ya it feels like they're pushing this all-female angle too hard, like Ghostbusters did. And like that movie if Birds of Prey isn't good, there will probably be a lot of angry people complaining about mysoginism, instead of looking at the actual criticisms of the movie
I also think trying to put so much hype around a female director/cast is a disservice to all the great movies from female directors that came before. A League of Their Own was directed by a woman and had a majority female cast, and it's a classic. Just judge a movie on it's merits, if it's great and just so happens to be female fronted then bonus
