Blashill is using HFBoard logic. The first line is the only one scoring, so it must be broken up.

WHile we're at it, let's break up the only other line that had any chemistry, the 4th line. Brilliant.

How about we start benching guys who screw up, and play some of the kids like Svech. Not gonna hurt Hirose to play in the A for a while.

Stymied Looks to me like the blender has stifled all the lines. This is the least exciting game I’ve watched them play this year, win or lose.

yeah idk, this is another reason why I don't like Blashill. Break up the first line to what? Make the weaker lines stroner? So we took away our strength to strengthen really weak points to where we have no strengths on the team and lots of weak points? Idk...

The first line was working, the fourth line was working... A trade for a quality player was needed to make the second line legit or add depth with a stronger 3rd line. A shuffle between the two middle lines could of been a better idea imo, No matter where AA played. Don't really love Glendening getting 2nd line minutes for most the season. Thought the Lines should of been Hirose-Nielson*-AA, Erne*- Filuppula - Glendening. The * are for guys I realize have been injured or are for tonight's game.

Of course, I ***** and ***** about helm and not seeing the MLB line tonight and helm scores... that'll teach me.

Here's a pointless observation: The Flames, of Calgary, Alberta, play in the Scotiabank Saddledome. A bank founded 2,334 miles away in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and headquarted in Toronto, Ontario. It’s the rough geographical equivalent of the Carolina Hurricanes playing in the Starbucks Superdome. Let’s Go Red Wings.

Calgary is one of those teams that we should hate more. During the summer I watched highlights from the 2007 series and they were crazy dirty, and especially after that brawl game at LCA a few years back. I hope we kick their ass tonight, especially after that effort in Vancouver.

Not So Tenacious D

I'm excited for this game. But I'm more of a "here we go again, lost 2 in a row" excited. I miss the "holy #### we're 3-1 LETS GO!" excited...

Feels like every time we play Calgary we get the #### kicked out of us, physically. Try and stay healthy after tonight.

Hopefully Larkin's message after the Vancouver game resonates. The lack of blocked shots on the penalty kill was really noticeable.
But then again, our blue line might be the worst in the league so I'm not sure it matters what is said.

If only we had a first round defenseman to help our terrible defense...

Our blue line is arguably bottom 3, but replace DK with Daley and it’s easily the worst by a mile.

Powerplay Woes

You know your broadcast crew is on point when the first you hear that your team is on a powerplay is when the arena announcer calls it

Our PP is so bad lol. The drop pass hasn't worked in, say, 5 years, but nooooo, let's keep doing it!

Everyone is standing still, staring at the puck. Nobody is even remotely trying without the puck... this is embarrassing.

I don't understand how we went from a greatlooking powerplay in the pre to whatever the hell this is supposed to be. It looks nothing like the pp we were running in the pre.

This is all dump pass and east-west over the zone, none of the north-south that made the preseason pp fun to watch

I recall that it was the same last year. During preseason the power play looked aggressive, creative. After the season started it was back to standing there staring at each other.

Just like Blashill drew it up.

The PP has felt so toothless so far.

We still aren’t moving the defense around at all, and a single deflection means it leaves the zone. I thought it would get a bit more mobile with Kronner out, but so far no dice.

Spent the last minute talking about how a shot that hit Howards stick was getting in his head. That shot wasn’t even slightly on net. It had no effect on the obvious deflection that went in on the next shot.

That goal started with a really bad decision by Larkin compounded by poor execution by Mantha.

This might be the angriest I’ve been at Darren Helm in his entire career.

The team practically stopped playing in the third. Helm took an awful retaliatory slashing major. Completely undisciplined hockey.

Why? The Flames are one of the dirtiest team in the league. Helm wouldn't do this out of nowhere.

2- How is it not a 5 minute penalty on hamonic for taking his gloves off and fighting helm while helm didnt take his gloves off?

Helm is probably fortunate he got a game because you know he was going to get run by one of about a dozen players on the Flames.

Wonder if Flames fans think 5 goals on 28 shots is sustainable (aware they continued to put up shots afterwards)......especially when Big Save Dave kept the Flames ahead in the opening frame......#notsustainable
