Crowdfunded Fountain of Youth
Quote:

Let's raise some money to cybernetically enhance Zetterberg so he can play for us for the next 25 years. I'm good for $20.
Quote:
If that was actually possible I would spend a dangerous amount of my money on it lol
Quote:
I moved to Calgary 3 years ago and every time Detroit comes to town my wife and I go to see them. They've lost every time ... here's hoping they break that streak! LGRW!
Quote:
That's what we all wanted, right? When the Red Wings were losing in the first round year after year?
When it Ain’t Broke
Quote:
Holy line shuffle, Blashill...
He broke up the MLB line
Quote:
Blashill is using HFBoard logic. The first line is the only one scoring, so it must be broken up.
WHile we're at it, let's break up the only other line that had any chemistry, the 4th line. Brilliant.
How about we start benching guys who screw up, and play some of the kids like Svech. Not gonna hurt Hirose to play in the A for a while.
Quote:
"Spreading the offense" seems rather pointless when the result is clearly "almost no offense".
Quote:
“You know how are top line is doing great with amazing chemistry? I have an even better idea, let’s split them up.” - Blashill
Quote:
Why the #### isn’t Blas playing the BLM line? Am i missing something?
Quote:
It is the Mike Babcock school of "I am smarter than everyone else even if it does not work"
Quote:
Stymied Looks to me like the blender has stifled all the lines. This is the least exciting game I’ve watched them play this year, win or lose.
Quote:
yeah idk, this is another reason why I don't like Blashill. Break up the first line to what? Make the weaker lines stroner? So we took away our strength to strengthen really weak points to where we have no strengths on the team and lots of weak points? Idk...
The first line was working, the fourth line was working... A trade for a quality player was needed to make the second line legit or add depth with a stronger 3rd line. A shuffle between the two middle lines could of been a better idea imo, No matter where AA played. Don't really love Glendening getting 2nd line minutes for most the season. Thought the Lines should of been Hirose-Nielson*-AA, Erne*- Filuppula - Glendening. The * are for guys I realize have been injured or are for tonight's game.
Quote:
Of course, I ***** and ***** about helm and not seeing the MLB line tonight and helm scores... that'll teach me.

The Fires of Rivalry
Quote:
I think Mantha should punch Hamonic in the ####ing face again just to send that one flames fan over the edge who insists Mo's dirty
Quote:
I hope I'm wrong, but so far this feels like it's gonna be one of Mantha's floater games.
Quote:
Wings sub beaks the flames stadium for being quiet when most nights at home you can hear a pin drop in little Caesar’s.
Quote:
Here's a pointless observation: The Flames, of Calgary, Alberta, play in the Scotiabank Saddledome. A bank founded 2,334 miles away in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and headquarted in Toronto, Ontario. It’s the rough geographical equivalent of the Carolina Hurricanes playing in the Starbucks Superdome. Let’s Go Red Wings.
Quote:
Calgary is one of those teams that we should hate more. During the summer I watched highlights from the 2007 series and they were crazy dirty, and especially after that brawl game at LCA a few years back. I hope we kick their ass tonight, especially after that effort in Vancouver.
Quote:
Missed that. He's gonna get a lot of #### for that, but Calgary/Detroit games are always ugly. #### Calgary
Not So Tenacious D
Quote:
I'm excited for this game. But I'm more of a "here we go again, lost 2 in a row" excited. I miss the "holy #### we're 3-1 LETS GO!" excited...
Quote:
Feels like every time we play Calgary we get the #### kicked out of us, physically. Try and stay healthy after tonight.
Quote:
Hopefully Larkin's message after the Vancouver game resonates. The lack of blocked shots on the penalty kill was really noticeable.
But then again, our blue line might be the worst in the league so I'm not sure it matters what is said.
Quote:
If only we had a first round defenseman to help our terrible defense...
Quote:
Our blue line is arguably bottom 3, but replace DK with Daley and it’s easily the worst by a mile.
Quote:
I hope James Tiberius Howard doesn’t feel like he’s playing Space Invaders tonight.
Quote:
I’m sick of your forecheck tonight, Calgary.
Quote:
Man, if this is how they're going to skate tonight... Edmonton is going to have a field day with them tomorrow.
Powerplay Woes
Quote:
You know your broadcast crew is on point when the first you hear that your team is on a powerplay is when the arena announcer calls it
Quote:
Our PP is so bad lol. The drop pass hasn't worked in, say, 5 years, but nooooo, let's keep doing it!
Quote:
Hasn't worked since Datsyuk left for Russia.
Quote:
Everyone is standing still, staring at the puck. Nobody is even remotely trying without the puck... this is embarrassing.
Quote:
My husband: "I feel bad that Yzerman is watching this. The guys were selling him, ’We’re just snakebit’"
Quote:
what in the **** is abby doing, holy ****
Quote:
I don't understand how we went from a greatlooking powerplay in the pre to whatever the hell this is supposed to be. It looks nothing like the pp we were running in the pre.
This is all dump pass and east-west over the zone, none of the north-south that made the preseason pp fun to watch
Quote:
I recall that it was the same last year. During preseason the power play looked aggressive, creative. After the season started it was back to standing there staring at each other.
Quote:
Just like Blashill drew it up.
"Be sure and get the puck to Abby. He's the key to the whole power play."
Quote:
The PP has felt so toothless so far.
We still aren’t moving the defense around at all, and a single deflection means it leaves the zone. I thought it would get a bit more mobile with Kronner out, but so far no dice.
Quote:
"A work in progress"
That’s…one way to describe it
Hey y’all, prepare yourself for the rubberband…. man
Quote:
I hope Jimmy’s groin is ok
That was a bigger stretch than Topher Grace playing Venom
Quote:
Holy ####balls what a save
Quote:
Being a Detroit goalie in the last 5 years has got to be ####ing painful
Quote:
Not sure how old man Jimmy didn't tear his groin right there... Whoa
Crap Cakes Guy
Quote:
Crap Cakes! What an ugly goal
Quote:
Crap Cakes
did we even have 4 guys on the ice there? sheesh
Quote:
Crapity crap cakes
Fire the PK
Quote:
Crap Cakes again 5-1 seems a familiar number for Road Wings
The Mangiapane Tip
Quote:
I hate that after all those great stops... that's the one that goes in. **** luck right now.
Quote:
weird redirect on a floater from Giordano.
Quote:
Ah crap. Did Howard get screened by DDK?
edit – Nope, that was a nasty tip on the shot
Quote:
Holy cow these SN announcers are bad
Spent the last minute talking about how a shot that hit Howards stick was getting in his head. That shot wasn’t even slightly on net. It had no effect on the obvious deflection that went in on the next shot.
Quote:
That goal started with a really bad decision by Larkin compounded by poor execution by Mantha.
Lindholm on the PP
Quote:
Dang, wish we could've scored on the power play
Quote:
Debating whether to go to bed or see if they can climb out of this hole. Damnit I have a meeting super early in the morning...
Quote:
Wow was that brutal puck watching PK.
Gator really guilty of it, but most of the guys looked ready to be taken advantage of.
Big Scary Looch
Quote:
Well, there's the first big mistake by Biega.
Quote:
You can't lose a puck race to Lucic
Quote:
Wow the dman heard the footsteps there... awful
Quote:
Looked like he was hesitant to go hard into the corners with Lucic right behind him. I mean, I can't really blame him, but still.
Quote:
Lol just look at our defense putting in minimal effort.
Quote:
Now we know why Biega got waived.
Quote:
Soft play on the puick there by Biega
Quote:
Oh no, Biega let Lucic do a good
That’s a no bueno
Quote:
Blerg
We gave Lucic a point
Quote:
Outmuscled by Lucic, outmuscled by Bennett
Quote:
I'm done watching this crap. This team makes Lucic look like he's 27 again.
Quote:
“Bennett just slipped it in deep.”
Quote:
The entire Flames was in deep, slipping it in wouldn't be the proper description. Dry would be my preferred adjective.
Milan Lucic’s Powers of Persuasion
Quote:
.... did Hronek just score lucic's goal?
Quote:
Now we're putting pucks into our own net.
Quote:
Glad to see Hronek get a goal .. just sucks it was for the Flames
Quote:
I’m sick, the Yankees can’t hit a beach ball with RISP, and now Lucic has multiple points... Terrible day.
Quote:
Oh no, did they let that buttscum score too?
Quote:
Well that sure escalated quickly
looks like Ryan not Lucic
Quote:
I went to let the dog out and it was 2-1. I look at the TV when I get back it’s 4-1. Wtf.
Quote:
i literally went to go pump gas and came back to it being 4-1 idk what the #### happened
Quote:
I give up. This game went sideways and isn't coming back. I'm thinking the blender was a fail.
Quote:
Wow, I fly into Salt Lake City...
…and while waiting for my connecting flight log in to this? Is our D this bad?
Eye for an Eye
Quote:
Helm probably jumped a 100 spots in yahoo fantasy rank with the G and PIMs
Quote:
Veterans should be helping show the kids how to keep their composure
This might be the angriest I’ve been at Darren Helm in his entire career.
Quote:
Much worse
The team practically stopped playing in the third. Helm took an awful retaliatory slashing major. Completely undisciplined hockey.
Quote:
Why? The Flames are one of the dirtiest team in the league. Helm wouldn't do this out of nowhere.
Edit: And I was right.
Quote:
1- Blatant ####ing elbow to the face missed, gg refs.
2- How is it not a 5 minute penalty on hamonic for taking his gloves off and fighting helm while helm didnt take his gloves off?
Quote:
Helm is probably fortunate he got a game because you know he was going to get run by one of about a dozen players on the Flames.
Quote:
Looks like a dive from that angle tbh.
Quote:
Oh NHL, you are such a joke
Lindholm clearly elbowed Helm in the face, yet Helm is the only one getting any sort of penalty
Quote:
Get out-toughed, then hurt a guy with a cheap shot. Great.
Quote:
If no one has suggested it yet... I’m crediting Helm with a "Marchand Hat Trick" (goal, major, misconduct)
B, I, And Gio!
Quote:
Specialty teams are just pathetic once again. Nothing new
Quote:
I'm not even sure what to think. Just outclassed once again... team has zero talent.
Quote:
I can handle losing, but these games aren't even close at this point. Not a single bright spot from these performances.
Quote:
We look just as bad as last year... Which makes sense given that the roster is the same.
Yzerman fishing for a top 3 pick. Hope the lottery gods help us out for once
Quote:
thats it for me, folks. Ill keep watching when they try
Quote:
If any team needs a 5 to ####ing 1 win. Here ya go.

New Jersey Juju
Quote:
Red Wings on the 2nd of a back to back?
Quote:
I’m guessing that our effort will be a lot better than the Philly game and we will outplay Detroit but end up losing.
Quote:
Hope shames doing a better job to soften up Wings tonight, Philly look rested! Flames aren't hard to play it seems!
Quote:
After last game you think.were a playoff team?????
Quote:
oh my. Lucic got his first point...
And looks like maybe his first goal
Quote:
Boys better come out with some fire after that “talking to” from Dad Tippet. Detroit is getting waxed.
Quote:
Let’s hope they do and respond well, Detroit will be extra motivated for our game. If we’re for real, we should win this and not the same way we won yesterday. Lots of interesting dynamics for tomorrow’s game, all in our sleek new jersey’s.
Quote:
Wonder if Flames fans think 5 goals on 28 shots is sustainable (aware they continued to put up shots afterwards)......especially when Big Save Dave kept the Flames ahead in the opening frame......#notsustainable
Also, it would have been sweet if Lucic’s first goal was an own goal.....
