One of the issues with Rogers being cheap is the fact that the Blue Jays are actually their own division within Rogers corporate. So as a consequence, the team itself has a duty to shareholders not to throw money away unnecessarily. They don't have to try to operate at a profit no matter what, but they can't decide to just go for it and take on huge red ink either.
