You know, I was thinking the same thing last night since he and Jankowski had such great chemistry. I began to openly wonder whether Jankowski's struggles have anything to do with his absence.
So I took a quick look at what he's done so far in Washington.
GP-6, G-1, A-2, P-3, TOI: 10:37 (2nd lowest on the team). That's pretty great production considering his minutes.
Hathaway's 3 points outscore anyone on the Flames not named Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm, Tkachuk, or Giordano.
Maybe it was the smart move to let him go due to salary cap restrictions, but he's sorely missed in the bottom 6 at the moment. At least we would have a guy that gives a crap bringing the energy every night. His absence is notable so far to start this year.
