Brushing snow off your knees every shift, especially on the second line, is not going to work very well to generate the chances needed with a guy like Tkachuk on the other wing. They need 5 guys upright otherwise they don’t have much of a chance to do anything on that shift.
He either can’t play that exact style in the NHL, or, needs to get bigger and stronger.

Mangiapane can add some skill to a bottom 6,and though he lacks the size, he has the tenacity to play that role.
I don't know if he's skilled enough to be a top 6 guy.
If it were up to me, I think the flames have to split up the big boys, at least for a while to get everybody else going.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - lindholm
Lucic - Jankowski - mangiapane
Reider - Ryan - Frolik
In order for this iteration of the flames to succeed, they need Bennett, Jankowski, mangiapane, to get going and feeling good about themselves.
