I loved this game, probably my most or second most played NES title. But, you can easily cheese the final boss which keeps it from being a perfect game in my opinion.
I will add Age of Empires 2 to the discussion. Possibly the best RTS game ever made, which is why it still has a very active online community and competitive scene more than 20 years later.
