I would disagree with that, it just feels like getting into Oiler-esque “tiering” of fandom. You can be a passionate hockey fan right into every moment of the game, watch every game you can, talk endlessly about the team, players, the sport, etc, and still not really GAF about a loss.
The only losses that are really disappointing are the ones that end a season, because that means cheering for your team is done until the draft.
If you want to defend getting upset by a loss, sure. But this is not a “no true fan” situation.
