My unpopular opinions:
- Darryl Sutter was a bad GM. He was however, one of the best coaches out there.
- Tkachuk should be the eventual captain, not Monahan
- The notion that Jarome's two way game was at some detrimental level to the team is exaggerated and untrue. Iginla was a offensive winger, no different from a Gaudreau, and creating offense on a team that lacked that element should have been and was his priority. The commentary around him often sounds like Iginla blew the zone regularly while shirking his play in his own end, which wasn't true. The resulting "divide" in the room, I feel, is also dramatized for effect and if there even was one, wasn't too different from most teams where there's a group who are very defensively focused and another group who are looked at to score goals.
