I'm not really bothered by the reffing or the bad penalty calls at this point. Bad penalty calls is one of those things that are always bound to happen.
What I am bothered by right now is the state of the review rule, as the inconsistencies of the rule dictated the outcome in a game immediately to begin the season. It's not even entirely the refs that are to blame for the blown high stick call, it's the book. Every person watching the game, except for the refs obviously, knew that it was a high stick, and still the rulebook made it impossible to do anything about it. It's exactly the kind of reffing mistake the NHL is trying to get rid of, still it seems virtually impossible to get it right. That will keep grinding my gears, as it is bound to keep happening throughout the season for every team.
