I hate to sound like an old guy yelling at clouds, because I'm far from old, but if he gets the captaincy, it's further showing to what is wrong with our society now, catering to entitled individuals, and enabling them. He will never grow up, he will never mature, and he will never be humble. It's a sad showing, as kids will see him, think that's how you should carry yourself, and grow up to be just as bad or worse.
Another poster said it, there are plenty of examples of superstar athletes who carry themselves with poise and grace, role models you hope your children look up.
There are also some examples of superstar athletes at a younger age, much like Matthews, came across as arrogant and entitled, but as they grew up, matured. They had the benefit of having great veterans and people around them to guide them. Patrick Kane comes to mind.
I won't write him off yet, as he's still young, and I did plenty of dumb things when I was young too, and probably came across as an a-hole. But I hope for his sake and really, those who look up to him as a role model, that Tavares gets the C, and he learns to take some humble pie.
