Well the post I quoted mocked anyone suggesting Tkachuk would be interested in 'top dollar' So I guess I see something below top dollar as a discount. IMO Tkachuk received 'top dollar'.

As for your characterization of the negotiation, it seems rather simplistic. But when do you suppose Treliving brought that fact up? Because I heard they had been working on a long term deal for much of the summer which would always require moving salary out.

At some point Tkachuk had a change of heart? That is certainly possible. Or maybe they couldn't agree on the numbers for a long term deal, like nearly all of the other RFA deals. Do you really believe they would have been able to agree to a long term deal, but Tkachuk backed off because he didn't want to see someone traded?

I'm not denying Tkachuk cares about his teammates. I'm just not seeing the evidence of people's opinions of Tkachuk seeking 'top dollar' being objectively wrong.
