No. This contract will not count against the cap. The Flames did actually assign Raymond to the AHL in order to bury some of his cap hit, but could not bury all of it. The reason players like Bouma and Brouwer were not simply buried is that the Flames save more money on a buyout than they do by attempting to bury these larger contracts. Teams can only bury about $1.0 m of an individual deal.
