A buyout is great for the player, he gets most of his money and the opportunity to sign another contract, but not great for the team because it costs them cash and only gives some cap relief.

Terminating the contract is great for the team because they no longer have any responsibility or obligation to the player, no cash, no cap, no player. Not so great for the player.

Thats why I was thinking of some middle ground.

So like a half buy-out?
