Having said that, it does fit with the cap and the silver lining is Treliving is not forced to make a trade. This team is better with Frolik and/or Brodie on the roster.

If Brodie and Frolik are the reason you sign this contract, you probably shouldn't be a GM.
The fact that Tkachuk makes more than Point is pretty embarrassing. And it's pretty obvious that Point's contract directly affected the timing of this contract.
The contract itself isn't the worst. I like it more than the Marner and Matthews deals. A bridge deal for Tkachuk kind of makes sense, because he only has one highly offensive season under his belt thus far. And at least he's still an RFA at the end, even if the QO will have to be high.
