That's a good way to put it. The game is just simple randomeness, then the banker applies different discounts to the expected value of the remaining suitcases. Kinda boring, the only way hte show makes it by tring to make the contestants charactors ... which they do well.

It drives me nuts when the contestants get mad at the banker because he gave them a crappy offer. Well it's all based on the amounts left on the board. Not on how much Howie Mandel likes you. I'm sure that guy up in that dark room isn't doing anything, some computer formula probably picks the amount you get.
