There are still restrictions on liquids yes. But its not as bad, u can't still take an open water bottle and such. Anything Gel or Liquid I'd still avoid taking to make life easier.

Laptop and Cameras are allowed as carry on luggage, yes. But with your laptop, to save you time (I imagine u are leaving in Calgary) pull it out of ur bag and put it in a separate bin from everything else. Camera should be fine in the bag as well. The old rule of change, wallet and all that coming off still applies.

I know that Toronto Airport has plug in at the gates, u just have to find them. As for Montreal, i'm not sure.
