This is a great deal.
There is always risk when you sign a player long term, this is no different.
D-men with Chabot's skills seldom regress when they are young.
It is very unlikely they won't get good value from this.
It also locks him up for all of his prime years.
Much less risk than signing a pending UFA for 8 years when he's 28.
