Trouba at 8 was an overpay. After that you have Fowler with 7.5 for 8. These guys gain 2 UFA years and are still getting paid. The organizations give up two prime years compared to where Trouba was and if they wan to keep them will have to pay for two Bad years on the back end. And they are doing with close to 7 mil cap hits.
Lower term while maintaining high dollars is the new RFA play.
I think these deals are teams and players reaching reasonable compromises each knowing that they have reached peak leverage and the best deals are on the table.

I think Provorov's initial ask was around $9 million. He settled for less than $7 million and he gave up some UFA years on the process. I think that indicates the player reliniquished their position to a certain extent.
