As an aside, 40 years ago this evening, Nastase and McEnroe have a circus.
Nastase taking too long after a break, McEnroe serves. Nastase complains about not ready. On next serve, McEnroe takes his time and Nastase complains, and umpire gives McEnroe the game.

Centre court fans boo for about 7 minutes straight.

A fan runs out in the court to complain. The referee needs a ladder to climb up to the umpires mic to try and calm the fans and makes it worse.

After a while, umpire tells Nastase just to start playing through the boos. He refused, and umpire gives match to McEnroe.

Then the ref and tournament director comes over and they replace the ump with the ref and continue the match.

Summary is at beginning of video but not that accurate, with a biased McEnroe and always hyperbolic Bud Collins skewing what actually happened. At about the 9:30 mark is how it played out in full.
