I think the 'opening act' is always a bit necessary - and for sports, it's the anthems I guess?

I see it the other way. lights go down, loud music, excitement. everyone is pumped for the game. players ready to go. then everything stops so we for 10 minutes stand there and listen to a song.
I'd rather keep the energy up and get right to the game.
