Cargo shorts to work is definitely not a no-no in all situations. The way I see it, there are two types of cargo shorts. The one where the cargo pockets fit nice and slim to the pants, and the other where the pocket pops out 3 feet and snags on anything you walk by. The former is okay for an office, the latter is not. Again, that depends on your office's dress code too.
