You wonder if Chevy has the stones Dr. Doom alluded to, and just focused this summer on freeing up the money he's looking to sign everyone for.
If he's waiting for the Marner contract to settle before he wastes his time talking with Laine's agent I admire his confidence. It's about all that makes sense to me really. Amongst all the chatter of offer sheets leading into the off-season he might have looked around and decided that no one was going to do a thing until Marner was settled. He also must've been confident that no one was going to offer anything that would handcuff him, so if anything... silence all season could be used to justify a lower offer.
The stones on Chevy if that's true, but it'll be interesting to see how everything settles (Calgary included)
