I think Gio will be at worst a second pairing d-man by the end of this contract.
People were right about how while his age is up there, his mileage is lower than most at that age so it does factor in.
He isn't doing anything spectacular out there (like fast skating) that would be expected to depreciate rapidly. He's just a smart player with all around solid qualities that barring some kind of injury he should be able to sustain it for a bit yet, given his fitness level and drive.
