Why do I think United are still in the mix? Because after the top two everything after that including Spurs is very average.
I might agree with you if it was a random selection but it's the final third of the season. And no, they had not clearly shifted focus to the CL as well. In fact, it reinforces my argument.
These were NOT meaningless games. They SHOULD have been meaningless games but weren't due to their inability to secure that top 4 spot on multiple occasions way before seasons end.
As for injury issues. Two guarantees for this season Kane will miss time with an ankle injury and Alli with a hamstring.
All I'm saying is that I lump Spurs in with the average teams, not above them. They are far from a shoe in for third.

I guess we agree to disagree and see who ends up more right. It's not an excuse that Spurs had the WC issue though; we had a lot of players play deep into that tournament and fatigue and injuries caught up to them.
