I don’t think these idiots have the balls to kill themselves. I am betting on exposure after getting wet. The temperature has been going down to 5 degrees at night. The fact they found discarded items belonging to them makes me think that they were getting to weak to carry stuff or their belongings got wet and heavy.

They were holding on for dear life and didn’t seem like they wanted to die.
