I really wouldn't put stock into anything the dad said. The guy had a book out a week after the events.
By most other accounts these guys were running scared, not looking to die, not looking to go out in a blaze of glory. Maybe at one point that was the intention but seemed to have quickly change to them just trying to flee. Which is what their close friend said.
Maybe they'll have some video on their phone or some manifesto so the families do get closer, but really the best course of action for society is to forget them and move on. Prevent copycats. That won't be the case, but it should be.
