The most redeeming parts are the interactions between the leads, and the two nice supporting cast surprises.
The most enjoyable movie I've seen this summer is Yesterday. That movie was just a frickin joy start to finish, and much funnier than expected. Minor gripes of course, but favorite music group themed film of the last calendar year, and there have been some decent ones. I'm glad it's been in theatres as long as it has, and the showing I went to just recently was a full theater including the very front section so that was great to see.
I'd say it's better value for your buck than H&S was.

We went and saw that last week, and while I enjoy The Beatles I'm far from a rabid fan, but that movie was a treat. Love the Beatles or not, the music is good, the story is good and, you nailed it, much funnier than expected.
