Clearly my math was wrong. The Flames can sign Tkachuk and Mangiapane for 8.5 and make it under the cap. Uggh. That's clearly not happening. Perhaps they are going to have to trade Frolik or Brodie for not very much. That's going to suck.

The most ideal situation possible now if we can't get those guys under the remaining cap is that we're able to trade Brodie for forward that helps us at a cheaper cap hit than TJ.

Dealing Frolik for a 4th or 5th means you're just going into the next season gutting your offensive and defensive depth options. I'd prefer we not do that. Would rather keep Frolik if we don't have an equal or better replacement available. You need those versatile players that can move up and down the lineup when injuries arise, as is inevitable.
