By the time the Financial slide clicked by all hope was lost.

Whats the point of this story? You can often tell a bad deal generally at first blush regardless of how badly you might want it to be a good one unless key elements and details are being deliberately hidden.

We dont need more time. The people who hammered this out have spent thousands of hours on it. John Q. Taxpayer are going to have to let the people we elected to represent us make a goddamned decision.

I'm getting sick of 'Public Consultation.'

If the people elected to represent us cant make a decision on behalf of the people they represent then what is the point in having them?
I actually kind of agree. The first thing that I thought when Nenshi stepped up to the mic and lead with "this is a great deal for the city" I thought it was a sales pitch and probably not a great deal.

I'm actually in favour of this anyway though. Did they do their homework here? Sure doesn't look like it. Will it work out as perfect as planned? Probably not. Does this particular arena buck the trend of making financial sense compared to virtually every other arena that has been funded with public money? Of course not.

But you know what, they've shown no fiscal restraint anywhere else, and frankly they're going to spend the money on some other pet project, so I'm cool with it being an arena, sorry event center. The truth is I do want to see a new rink for the Flames and if it finally means we get all these concerts that we seem to miss it's an added bonus.
