I guess, but top players can negotiate big signing bonuses currently which is guaranteed and immediate money. Those would go away for everyone and generally the value of contracts would go down as well if they are guaranteed money and guaranteed term.
Having 53 man rosters doesnt help matters if the 4th string tight end has to be signed to a guaranteed contract at a league minimum for a year.
