But if numbers are suffering due to non-legal hunting factors (aka poaching) then doesn't legal hunting need to be reduced to compensate? Seems weird for people who supposedly care deeply about conservation to say "Well, if they're poaching then that's why this species is threatened, but we're still going kill ours because we get to!!….and we also care very much about these animals".
