Yeah the comment about this being legal is actually very ironic. It's legal in South Africa because of unique laws relating to apartheid allowing land owners to also own wildlife. And a law in the constitution worded like the 2nd amendment of the American constitution...never intended to permit lion farming but here we are because of money.
The other ironic comment is that the meat is used so it's ok. South Africa lions aren't eaten by anyone. The bones are sent to Asia and that's almost exclusively (98% of lions) how they are used. That fuels an otherwise illegal exotic animal trade that results in further markets for poachers.
I'm ranting now. But the tacky picture of these two kissing over their poach really underscores the actual tragedy here.
