The Leafs were prepared to give up both for Brodie and Janko but the Flames couldn’t afford to eat the Brodie cap on their own. With Puljujarvi needing to be rebuilt, Nuge having a worse contract than Kadri and Bennett having more value than Janko I think the deal is fairly balanced.
