Obviously a big aside but this simply isn't true. Also, the majority of back issues will not do well with heavy loading in their early stages.

Nope. It does just fine. Obviously, I didn't start lifting heavy, but started at the bar, established my failure point and then kept adding 10-15 lbs (depending on the lift) per week. It has worked just fine for me and I feel great.
