Tkachuk has steadily improved every year in the league. He had 48pts as a rookie, was on pace for 60 in his second year before injury ended his season and then went to 77pts in his third year. Beyond numbers he has played tough defensive minutes since he was a rookie and has shown his leadership ability by wearing a letter. So I think it is fair to give Tkachuk a long term big money deal.
